Do I need to pay to join?
There is no payment to join for a limited time only. A $99 service charge will be paid annually from January 2017.
Why is there a fee?
Bunk charges a fee to be able to supply you with marketing material. You will get 5 fee Bunk cards every year for you to sell and gain back the fee charged.
Are there any hidden fees that I should know about?
No. It is just the annual fee and nothing else to pay for 12 months.
How much discount does my hostel have to give Bunk card holders?
When signing up to Bunk, you will need to let us know how much discount you will honour our card holders. This is a minimum of $1, but can be as much as you like.
Do we have to sell Bunk cards to potential customers?
It is compulsory to be selling the Bunk cards. You must have a minimum of 5 cards in case people wish to purchase a Bunk card from you. It is vital to Bunk’s success that we spread the word and give our customers great value for money and also allow us all to be a community to recommend backpackers to each other. We do encourage you to purchase the Bunk cards to sell to generate a larger network for the Bunk members, which will benefit everyone.
How do people book through the website?
We link the booking button for your hostel to your own booking system. We have found this to be the most efficient way of giving you direct bookings.
Why do you send people to our booking system?
We want to give you the customers directly instead of a booking channel that charges commissions. With no commission you are in fact saving more money even after you have given a discount to our members. Bunk believes in creating a community across our hostel network to help everyone as much as possible.
I don’t have a booking system. What happens?
Don’t panic. We still have your booking contact information. We know that booking systems cost money and if you are one of the hostels that don’t have a booking system we instruct Bunk card holders to book with you directly.
There is a busy period and we want to put our prices up. Is this allowed?
Yes. All hostels are busy at different periods of time. Your demographic position is always a factor that we have taken into consideration. If you have a concert in your town and you know it is going to be really busy, feel free to put your prices up. We only commit to telling our customers that they get a discount on the hostel’s current price, so please make sure if you increase your price, still give the agreed discount to the Bunk card member.
I want to join. What do I do now?
You can fill out our application form and we will be in contact once we receive it. We try and make the process as easy as possible by getting as much information as possible from your current website. Once we have added you to the website, we will get you to look over it to make sure everything we have added is correct.
We have changed some information and wish to edit our page.
